Venice Feeling on the Wei\u00dfe Elster River Venice is one of the most romantic cities in the world, known for its gondolas. But did you know that you can also experience the feeling of being in Venice in Leipzig?<\/p>\n

In the western part of the city, the Wei\u00dfe Elster and Plei\u00dfe rivers flow, with artificially created canals where excursion boats, canoes, and even Venetian gondolas sail. But how did this come about?<\/p>\n

The owner of the Italian restaurant Da Vito Ristorante in Plagwitz imported three gondolas from Venice in 1999 and trained gondoliers to navigate these beautiful boats on the Wei\u00dfe Elster River. You can book a private one-hour gondola ride for up to five people. Admire the landscape along the river and canals during the ride, and enjoy the unique perspective of the city of Leipzig. It becomes especially romantic with your loved one at sunset.<\/p>\n

Prefer to take the paddle into your own hands? No problem! Forget the gondolas and hop into a canoe. Canoe tours on the Wei\u00dfe Elster River are offered for both beginners and advanced paddlers. One of the most popular routes is from Leipzig to Schleu\u00dfig. There are also guided tours accompanied by experienced guides who provide information about the surroundings and the history of the city.<\/p>\n
