Plagwitz – the creative heart of Leipzig

Leipzig has evolved into a truly creative and exciting city in recent years, and the district of Plagwitz, in particular, has become a true hotspot. Here, artists, designers, musicians, and other creative minds come together to create new ideas and realize their projects. But what makes this neighborhood so special? Let us tell you!

In the streets of Plagwitz, you’ll find numerous galleries and studios showcasing a wide range of art and culture. One of them is the KUB Gallery, housed in a former factory building, which impresses with contemporary art. Also worth a visit is the Maerz Gallery, which mainly exhibits young artists and experimental art forms.

Equally important for art enthusiasts is the Alte Baumwollspinnerei, a huge industrial complex displaying various artworks from paintings to photographs, installations, and performance art. Inside, you’ll find the G2 Kunsthalle, a significant meeting point for Leipzig’s art scene. The Eigen+Art Gallery is also located in the Alte Baumwollspinnerei and is considered one of Germany’s most important galleries today. It showcases works by artists such as Neo Rauch, Martin Eder, and David Schnell.

As you can see, Leipzig and art go hand in hand. But that’s not all the city has to offer. In the streets of Plagwitz, you’ll also find many small and unique shops selling homemade and handcrafted products, perfect souvenirs for your loved ones. The neighborhood also boasts a diverse culinary scene, ranging from trendy cafes and vegan snack bars to upscale restaurants. You’ll find everything your heart desires.

Last but not least, there’s the Westwerk. Regularly hosting exhibitions, concerts, and events, it reflects the youthful and creative flair of Plagwitz.

Plagwitz is an emerging neighborhood brimming with creativity and energy, definitely worth a visit. We’re confident that you can expand your horizons and let your creativity run wild there, so what are you waiting for? Let yourself be enchanted.
